SERVICES

As an independent non-denominational minister I look forward to ushering in times of joy and togetherness.

offer three basic services:

1. Performing Wedding Ceremonies –perform legally-recognized and fully binding wedding ceremonies

More and more couples are looking to get wed in a more non-traditional manner. Whether engaged couples are getting married at resorts, hotels, backyards or in the outdoors, they are in search of a more personal ceremony which reflects their unique relationship as well as their shared beliefs and values. The couple may have different religious or cultural backgrounds yet share a common spirituality. As a wedding officiant I will be involved in:

  • verification  of  the legality of the marriage by examining state issued licenses and identification to be  sure the couple has all of the appropriate documentation to perform weddings.

  • completion and filing of  paperwork with the vital records division.

  • make copies of the documents for you

  • work with you to write a personalized ceremony that makes the wedding unique and special

  • work with you to review any special rituals to be included in the ceremony (ie. breaking the glass, lighting the unity candle, the marriage vessel and the rose, jumping of the broom, unity cup, family medallion, and Celtic and Pagan hand-fasting.

  • attend the wedding rehearsal

  • perform the ceremony

  • announce to guests the legal joining of the couple and send them on the start of their new life together

2. Presiding Over a Funeral- preside over meaningful and personalized burial and funeral

ceremonies

ULC ministers are occasionally called upon to perform a funeral ceremony in a chapel or at a graveside service. Not all funerals are religious in nature and ministers are prepared to offer a civil ceremony without references to God or any particular belief system if the family requests that they do so. As a minister I will strive to incorporate the beliefs of the departed and the family into the ceremony. As a funeral officiant I will:

  • meet with family to discuss arrangements for services

  • coordinate with a funeral director if needed

  • for religious funerals, read any prayers or scripture the family requests. I am prepared to make  suggestions if family and friends need assistance in choosing appropriate readings.

  • give an invocation

  • handle anything in regards to the eulogy

  • read closing prayer

  • give a benediction

  • for a non-religious (usually a graveside service), read an opening statement

  • follow protocol established by family and/or friends

  • give a closing statement

Cost: $100 + expenses

3. Baptism- perform a non-denominational or religious baptism

The term baptism is derived from the Latin word baptismos, or the act of ritual washing and purification. It is a symbolic act of purification and has its roots in the ancient the practice of bathing in a mikvah. A mikvah was a large bath where individuals went to restore a state of ritual purity. People of all ages can be baptized, although it is common practice for baptisms to occur within a few months of birth. As a baptism officiant  I will:

  • assist in the choosing of godparents (if asked)

  • accommodate to your scheduling

  • review plans for the baptism in terms of customs

  • prepare words and action according to tradition (religious or non-denominational)
